Keller Rohrback L.L.P. Announces ERISA Investigation of the Merrill ...

SEATTLE, Nov. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Keller Rohrback L.L.P. (http://www.erisafraud.com) announces that it has commenced an investigation against Merrill Lynch & Co., Inc. ("Merrill Lynch" or the "Company") (NYSE: MER) for potential violations of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 ("ERISA"). The investigation focuses on investments in Merrill Lynch stock by the Merrill Lynch & Co., Inc. 401(k) Savings and Investment Plan (the "Plan").

Keller Rohrback's investigation involves concerns that Merrill Lynch and other administrators of the Plan may have breached their ERISA-mandated fiduciary duties of loyalty and prudence to participants and beneficiaries of the Plan. A breach may have occurred if the fiduciaries failed to manage the assets of the Plan prudently and loyally by investing the assets in Company stock when it was no longer a prudent investment for participants' retirement savings.

Friday wild card

Participants also expressed less trust in the electoral system and more cynical views of the news media.

DFO: I haven't watched Stewart's show enough to decide for myself whether or not he's funny.

Question: What do you think of "The Daily Show"?

Annuity checks include return of principal

I'm still getting e-mails, more than 300 so far, about a September column on immediate-income annuities that increase payments each year to compensate for inflation.

Immediate-income annuities are policies issued by insurance companies that, in exchange for a lump-sum premium, can guarantee an income for life. Many financial advisers recommend retirees consider using a portion of their savings to buy a lifetime annuity to cover basic expenses, such as food and housing.

Dozens of you had never heard of income annuities, and several said your insurance agent couldn't find any that increase payments to counteract inflation. If so, find another agent.

Prediction roundup: Book Arizona

I think Rivers will play. The key will be how well the Chargers' two lines can handle the Patriots. I think they can have success on both sides. Look for LaDainian Tomlinson to run for 100 yards and keep the sticks moving. The San Diego defense will tackle well and keep Randy Moss in front of them. In the end, though, the Patriots are just too good. Tom Brady throws for three more scores and the Patriots will get to 18-0.

Jeff Zillgitt, USA Today: Patriots 35, Chargers 20. With a backup quarterback, a backup running back and a star tight end playing on basically one leg, San Diego beat the Colts in Indianapolis. Impressive indeed, especially San Diego's defense, which is why the Chargers are in this game. But where does that leave the Chargers against the Patriots? In a tough spot, even if Philip Rivers and LaDainian Tomlinson play.

Dream of Veterans Memorial getting closer to reality

The memorial is estimated to total about $350,000 according to the City of Norman's Web site at www.NormanOK.gov.Schulenberg has found heroes like Norman actor James Garner, who was the first draftee from Oklahoma into the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. While in Korea, Garner was wounded twice and awarded two purple hearts.Garner has supported the project with his own funds to help honor other veterans as well.Hundreds of others have contributed funds and even profits from the Moore Bingo facility have helped. And for all Schulenberg's contributor heroes who have written checks to move the project closer to reality, it's America's military heroes -- its veterans -- that he most wants to honor."We want the sacrifices the veterans have made to never be forgotten, and this memorial will honor their names for generations to come," Schulenberg said last year. The concept for the Cleveland County Veterans Memorial was created by Norman engineer Bob Goins and Marine veteran Clarence Powell and designed by the architectural team of Rick McKinney, Nathan Coffey, Toni Bragg and Bryan Rainbow of the McKinney Architects Partnership."We are just trying to provide a space and a palette where they can include all the men and women from as far back as they can go, as far back as they have records," McKinney said. The concept was to create a five-faceted granite and bronze sculpture."And they've settled on this wonderful eagle with an American flag and it's on an about 11-foot high pylon that's a five-sided pentagon.

July 2006

I know in my head I should be packing the car, making last minute arrangements and checking to be sure I haven’t forgotten anything.

I am especially antsy to get going this year since last summer I spent here at home after breaking my leg in 3 places. But at least this year, I am healthy, and ready to go. So until September I need to keep the bags by the door and just chill, until its my time to leave for the Cape.

Have a great August all, I will miss you, but I will be coming soon.
